Motor and Speed
The Velowave Pony has a powerful high-speed 750W Bafang motor. The motor provides enough power to be able to reach speeds of up to 28+MPH when pedaling and 20MPH on the throttle alone.
Right out of the box, Velowave has limited the speed to 25 mph to be legal in each state. If it’s allowed to ride faster in your area, the speed limit can be adjusted accordingly.
The peak power of the motor is 1,000 watts and it can provide a maximum torque of 80 Nm. This kind of power is enough for climbing moderate hills.
You can use the bike for daily commutes to and from work due to the motor’s reliable speeds. However, it is better suited for offroading and weekend activities.
Battery and Range
The ebike has a removable lithium battery (48V/15AH) with LG cells and can cover a range of over 40 miles on a full charge.
However, the 40+ miles range can be achieved only with pedal assistance. When using only a throttle, the battery would last about 25 miles. But the exact range depends on the rider’s weight, the type of terrain, and other circumstances.
We made the estimations mentioned above from riders weighing 165 pounds. Additionally, the range could increase or decrease depending on the weather or road condition.
The bike’s battery is water-resistant and safe to remove or store. It supports fast charging and could take 4 hours to reach 80% and 8 hours to fully charge.

Additionally, the gears have a less complicated build than other drivetrains, i.e., the 21-speed, and you could repair it if you are a DIYer or buy a replacement whenever it gets damaged.

Frame and Geometry
